By' the- arrival of the City of Hobart we are put in possession of Melbourne files to the 21st inst.; The Argus of that date reports on 1 Monday'^ market as follows';— 7..Z Zl-M Z-- .■■^ "• ■•• : "Business : in the import markets. opened very "quietly to day, and transactions^ have been of Hmitod extent. Country orders, however, como forward freely;: 'Flour has been in } good request at sustained prices for parcels of moderate t amount. Sales of Otard's brandy to some 'extent have been affected, but the prices have not transpired. The sale by auctionof Formosa's cargo ( pf Mauritius sugars attracted a full attendance of the trade. Holders' views of prices however, were not in accordance with those of buyers, and a small portion only of the cargo was disposed of. The prices realised'showed an advance of about 30s. per ton on previous rates.' The great bulk of the cargo was withdrawn. Teas continue in, demand, and improve in value. Considerable purchases have been made in Adelaide on Melbourne account. The Coorong, on her late trip, brought a considerable quantity, and the Havilah, which arrived today, has assisted to diminish the stock in Adelaide." ' " We learn that that the loss by the fire at the Hobson's Bay Bailway Company's woolshed, on Saturday, will not exceed £1,000, and that it is covered by insurance."
