QUEENSTOWN.
The WaJcatip Mail reports the state of trade in Queensto wn, a3 follows : — " Business remains to some extent in the same I position as before. Irnp&rts have been pretty j steady, and stocks in town, without being heavy, | are fully equal to the demand. Up-country store- , keepers are very bare, and the cost of packing, in the present state of the roads, deters many from purchasing. The news of the recent discoveries have not affected the market much, but an increased confidence is perceptible, and transactions are more freely entered into than before. The flour market is steady at £60, and if any immediate change take 3 place, it is likely to advance. Kerosene of good quality is scarce, but the market is crowded with the Hooded stuff of Melbourne. We have no auction sales of any consequence to report. In the Dunedin and Southland markets trade remains very dull, and at auction prices rule low. Latest advices from Adelaide quote flour £26 to £27, with a fluctuating market." ♦ ! i
