(From the Home Neios. Metals. — Spelter has been quieter, and tho price is now £21 on the spot, and £21 7s. 6d for forward delivery. Tin contiuues dull, parcels of Straits being pressed at 109s. to 110s., cash. British is offered at reduced prices. Tin plates arc rather easier ; only a moderate demand for manufactured iron, without change in price. Scotch pig closed at 595. 3d., and bars, in London, at £7 15s. to £9. Lead remains quit at our quotations. Copper has declined £5, and the smelters arc still sellers afc £2 to £3 under our quotations. Spirits. — All the common kinds of rum have again declined Id. per gallon with large snlcs ; the market, however, continues dull. Jamaica, fair to fine, sold at 2s. 4d. to 3s. Bd. ; Demerara, ls. Sid- to Is. Gkl. ; Berbiee, ls. sd. to ls. s. id. ; Leewards, ls. 5d., and East India, ls. 4d. to ls. 4_d. Brandies are without change, orders for export continue small. Gin or com spirits without change. Good port and sherries are very scarce, and higher prices paid. More doing in light sorts at moderato prices. Provisions. — The butter market is very dull, owing to the hot weather, and prices are lower. Small sales of new forth Corks have been made at 945. lo arrive. Dutch is much lower, last sales of Friesland at lOGs. to 108s., aud Kiel and Holstein lOSs. so 112s. American is about ds. toGs. lower. Hams aro quiet. Scarcely any business done either in beef or pork. Bacon is dull, and the latest sales show a decline of 2s. to 3s. on all qualities. Cheese is dull and rather cheaper. Rice. — Although a large business has been done, prices have rather given way both for parcels on the spot, and for arrival: Common cleaned Arracan and .Rangoon, 10s. to lis. 6d. ; fine Java,, 31s. to 3Gs. up to 10s. per cwt. Coffee. — Native Ceylon has continued in good demand at firm prices. Plantation sorts, however, have given way fully Is. to Gs., and the demand less active. Mocha is dearer and in good demand. Foreign coffee is steady. Corn. — Notwithstanding the Dnno-Gerinan war the market for wheat has continued extremely dull, and prices have farther given way Is. and 2s. for all kinds. The weather is fine and hot, which is bringing (lie young plant too forward. Barley is rather easier. Oats have sold to a large extent at full prices for all good qualities ; light sorts aro rather cheaper. Sro.vit. — Since the new duties have come into operation tliere has been more demand from both grocers and refiners. A fair business has been done, and importers generally have obtained Gd. to ls. per cwt. more money. The stock is now on a par with that of lasfc year. Tho last prices paid wore for Mauritius, black, 355. to 375. ; brown, 375. Gd. to 4ls. Gd. ; semi-grainy, 455. to 475. Gd. ; and crystals, -*!ss. to 515.; low to good yellow Ourpalta, 425. to 455. ; native brown and yellow Madras, 3Gs. to 41s. Gd. ; clayed Manilla, -lis. to 41s. Gd. ; and unclayed, 363. to 375. per cwt. A very large business has been clone in foreign loaves at fronv'JGs. to 375. 9d. for delivery nest month and up to July. Home male goods are dull, aud about 2s. ito 3s. lower. Common and good lumps are now 525. to 535. Molasses is firm but quiet. Cns-*!poro treacle sold at 13s. fid., duty 3s. Gd. allowed. 300 casks Australian were offered and bough) iv without a bid.
