Intelligence has been received up to the 14th April. There arc indications tliat active operations are about to re-com-mence in all quarters. Grant has officially assumed command of the whole ofthe Federal armies, and has announced that his head-quarters will be with the Potomac army. This army is now largely re-inforeed, and its headquarters liave been removed to Culpepper. This step is indicative of a forward move- ■ ment on Bichmond. The Confederates uuder General Forrest have invaded Western Tennessee, which ■ has resulted- in the capture of Union City. Forrest, immediately afterwards, entered Kentucky and took Paducah, ou the Qhio Biver. They were- forced to retreat;, but, being reinforced,- again advanced and attacked Columbus, where the fighting still continues. Active preparations are being made for the campaign in the South-West. General Johnstone has been largely reinforced from Polk's and Beauregard's armies.
