LIGHTS, BEACONS, AND BUOYS IN VICTORIA.
Tbe following notice to mariners, relative to certain lights, beacon*, aud buoys iv V'icloria, is published for general information. The present Hotice will attect to a certain extent the notices to mariners wliich were inserted in the Government Gazette of the lath January, lsoi, and ol" the 3rd February, 18C3, pages TO and 257. .Tas. G. Francis Commissioner of Trade and Custom?. Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne, 25th Nov., i»6.i. notice to .mariners. The various changes aud alterations herein mentioned will come into operation on or about tho first dny of .ranuaiy, 1564 :— Cape Schanck Lighthouse. Notico is hereby given that with the view of enabling navigators to sce'the Cape Schnnck Lighthouse better during' thick or hazy weather, the tower will, on or aboutthc above date be painted white, instead of red. Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and Kr.B Beacon. Notice is also given that the light and look-out house ou Point Lonsdale will, ou or about the above date, be ] painted red and black in alternate horizontal bands, each ten (io> feet deep, commencing at the top with red. The abovc-meutioned lighthouse having beeu built close to and ou the same line of bearing as the Poiut Lonsdale red ball beacon, hitherto used as a thwart mark i'or clearing the Lonsdale and Lightning Kocks, the beacon will, on and after the aforementioned date, be removed, aud the lighthouse used for the mark instead. Pope's Eve Shoal Bay. On or about the aforementioned date, the Pope's Eye Buoy will be removed altogether, and the North Buoy shifted from its present position about two cables' length iv a S.W hy S. direction. South Channel Buoys. The western Black Perch Buoy. No. 1 in the South Channel, will be shifted in a westerly direction from its present position to the tail ofthe south-west spit at the southern entrance to Svinond's Channel, and replaced bj\a third-class buoy. ' Prince George Bank Buoy. Tlie Ked Cone Buoy on Prince George's Bank, moored about N. by "W. from the West Cliaunel Lightship, will be painted black instead of red— its preseut colour. Dromana Mooring Bot;v. A mooring buoy, painted red. has been laid dowu in three (3) fathoms one cable's length from the outer end of Dromana Jetty. Charles Ferguson, Chief Harbour-Master.
