' " -■ The tenants of Lord Combermere celebrated his lordship's ninety-first birthday on- the 16th instant. The noble viscount has been in the British service for the long period of seventythree years. A subscription was commenced for the purpose of erecting a memorial to his lordship, and about £600 was collected' in the room. '■■- J ' : To rob a judge in open day in the publie streets is surely-ilie heiglit of tliievish impudence. Sueh an offence, has, however, been committed. Mr. Judge Payne was passing along Elect-street, when at the corner of Fetter-lane two young fellows set upon him and stole his watch. ■ The robbery was seen* by numbers of people^aind the' thieves were chased, but they got clear off. . -*y Every steamer that leaves Queenstown' is crowded with emigrants, and hundreds of families are predating to leave the country. A Sligo journal states that -remittances from, those who have been! some time in the States arrive by every mail; and thus a continuous drain takes place in our population. The number of persons leaving for Australia and other . British settlements becomes less every day, which can only be accounted for by the immense absorbtion of ' labor' in America, caused by the large number of men under arms who have been taken from the farm and , workshop, and whose places remain to , be filled up hy Irish emigrants. The defendants had failed to comply with the terms of the agreement, and- the plaintiff had exercised his right. There was a' breach of the agreement. The other learned judges concurred. Typhus is again on the increase throughout London generally, and especially in the east. The physicians of the Fever Hospital, Dr. Murchison aud Dr.- Buchan, have addressed a letter to the medical officer of the Privy • Council, calling liis attention to the necessity^ of making a provision for an epidemic of considerable magnitude during the coining winter. Gruy Fawkes had possession of tho popular mind in London on the sth of November. Beyond the name, however, there waa nothing in* the *efligies which were carried about the streets to identify them mth tlie storied individual who was to have blown up "King, Lords, and Commons. The - Emperor of Russia appeared tc be the individual against whom popular indignation was most directed, for rude images of him engaged in the perpetration of all sorts of cruelties upon Poles were most' numerous.
