s Letters from Rome of the s(h state that the appeal made in favor of the Poles has been warmly responded to. The RussianAmbassadorhascalled for a disavowal of the statement made by a Roman journal of the persecutions of the Lutheran Church. The Pope is said to have refused. Cardinal Aritonelli is not to go to Mexico, as has been reported. Letters from Napltte, of the sth, state that the Bishop of Tropea and six landed pioprietors have been carried off by a band of brigands into the woods of Calabria.
