. (FROM OUR O\VN CORRESPOND E NT.} i ."1 - October 24. t The Edina arrived on the; 22nd instant from Melbourne, bringing 60 passengers and 40* tons of cargo for the province of Southland. She anchored about 12 noo% and left our harbor about 3 a.m. Captain Kolls spoke highly/ of the facilities placed-at. his disposal for lighterage. Messrs T. Fordham & Co. were engaged by Mr. G. P. H. Gallop, the agent for the steamer, to tranship and land cargo for Invercargill and the Bluff, and were in immediate readiness on the anchor being dropped. The Ocean Bride arrived hereon Thursday, the 22nd instant, and came to the inner anchorage the same evening. She brings 70 horses, two drays, two waggons, and six passengers, ' under the management of Messrs Fordham' & Co., the cargo was landed before sunset of Friday. Why 1 draw your attention to these few particulars with regard to steamers and ships coming to this port with cargo and stock, is in order that the merchants of our sister colonies may be satisfied that vessels arriving here wj.ll meet with every facility for discharging, watering, and clearing out.
