SHORTEST AXD MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAKE DIGGINGS. FOR TIIE INFORMATION OF NEW ARRIVALS The nearest route fur pedestrians going to the Lake, is the Xorth Iload. About 44 miles from town, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Bush (IS miles) the drag track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti fl2 miles); from thence follow the dray-track to the Elbow Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles arc saved, and if the Oreti is high tlie East Bank can be kept all the wag. There is an accommodation house, at Wallace, toton, 7 miles from Invercargill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles ; another at the Elboic, 54 miles; another at Rogers, 74 miles; and another at the foot of the Lake, 92 miles.
