CORONER'S INQUES T.
An inquest was held at the Court-house on Saturday last before Dr. M'Clure, on the body of a man found in the New River. The following jury were sworn : — Mr T. S. Button, as foreman ; Messrs Gr. Gilbertson, W. Miller, H. Anisee, J. Smith, H. Ross, H. E. Osborn, H. Gibson, A. Munroe, C. Morton, W. Hall, and D. Cameron. After the jury had returned from viewing the body, the Coroner said that, owing to th,e roughness of the weather and the surge being so high, it had been found impossible for the police to serve a summons on the only party likely to identify the body, who was in the schooner Jane. Having no otber evidence, it would be necessary to adjourn the inquest to an early hcur on Monday morning. In the meantime the body wouid be interred, and, if the weather permitted, the Sergeant would endeavor to procure the attendance of the witness in question. The jury having acquiesced in this view of the case, the inquest was adjourned to Monday, at 9 a.m. The Coroner stated that four other bodies had been found near Riverton, supposed to be those of the men recently lost at the wreck;of the cutter Fly.
