THE INVERCARGILL AND BLUFF ROAD.
Ptrangers travelling to and from Tnvercargill and Bluff Harbour, if tii horseback, will find that tbe distance between the above places (20 miles) may be travelled both ivith speed and comfort by caving InvercargiU at half-ebb, and tbe Bluff at low water. Travellers on foot to leave the former place at first of the ebb, and tbe latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly _or S.W. gale wiil causo a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horsemen in from 2£ to 3 hours, an on foot in from 4£ to 6 hours.
