SOUTHLAND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

TII E SHOW. The second Annual Show of Stock and Implements, under the -auspices of the Southland Agricultural Society, took place on Wednesday last. The ground selected is about seven miles from town, on the Dunedin road, and the space occupied about four acres. Considering the state of the roads, and the unfavorable appearance of ths morning, the show went off rem.irk.ibly well. The animals { exhibited were really fir^t-class, and great credic is d'ic to those gentlemen who brought tlieir stock forward, — some from a great dis- | t.ince and at very considerable expense. The arrangements m ide by the committee and : Secretary for conducting the business of the day pave much satisfaction to all interested. Notwithstanding climatic and other hindrances, about 200 people visited the exhibition, and all appeared satisfied with the journey. Among the on-lookers were several stockowners, who, we understand, have stated their intention to exhibit extensively on the next occasion. This augura well, and the "Southland Agricultural Society" may now be considered an established institution in the Province. Among the visitors were His Honor the Superintendent, but other duties prevented him from remaining long. The Judges were : — For sheep, Messrs Pinkerton and Harvey ; cattle, Messrs Pinkerton and Jihns'on ; and for horses, Messrs Robertson and M'Lean. In the hands of such gentlemen, the awards could scarcely fail to give satisfaction, at least to those competent to form an opinion on the subject.
