THE INVERCARGILL AND BLUFF ROAD.
Strangers travelling to and from laverror^ill and Bluff Harbour, if on horseback, will find that the distance between the above places (20 miles) may be travelled both with speed awl comfort by leaving Invercargill at half-ebb, and the Bluff at low water. Travellers on foot to le.ivo the former place at first of the ebb, and tho latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly or S. W. gale will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generalty covered by horsemen in from 2^ to 3 hours, nn on foot in from 4£ to 6 hours.
