It is with great pleasure that we notice averymarked improvement in the general tone of business. Upwards of thirty teams have left town during the past ten days fur the new diggings on the Wakatip Lake, andthe orders received from the fame locality will require nt least from twelve to twenty more. Horse tennis appear to be getting into favour in ' preference to bullocks— which ot itself may always bo considered a good sign. Hates of cartage to the foot of the Lake are : For horse teams, .t'liO to £o"5, or perhaps we might say a little higher; bullock teams from £'5O per ton. The Australia, l(i-2 tons, arrived from Melbourne, bringing an assorted cargo, amongst, other things a small quantity of flour. The supply of the hitter article is quite inadequate to the demand existing at present, and as large additions may be expected to our population, we shall, in rll probability have shortly to report a considerable rise. Stock, generally speaking, are very low, and we hear i-f large or.Ws. The Balmoral, from Hobart Town, brings :— Timber, 15,000 feet; palings, 15,000' shing-les, 40,000 feel ; a description of goods much required. A very small quantity of bran, flour, butter, Sec. j
