Travellers on foot to leave 'ie former place at first of the ebb, and the latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly or S.W. gale will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but live hours' ebb. so that it will he necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horsemen in from 2.\ to 3 hours, an on loot in from 4J to 6 hours.
