LONDON WOOL REPORT.— Sept. 24, 1862.

The third series of sales this year commenced on the 31st July and closed 6th September. The total quantity catalogued consisted of 29,772 bales Sydney; 25,354 bales Port Philip; 9243 bales VanDiemen's Land; 8998 bales Adelaide ; 15,826 bales New Zealand; 133 bale* Swan River; 15,858 bales Cape. Total, 105,184 bales— being the largest number of bales ever catalogued in one seHes.

It is remarkable that so large a sale should have found ready buyers throughout at such uniform rates, the only exception being very faulty and inferior sorts, which about the middle of the sales were in favour of the buyer, and several large parcels were withdrawn.

For all good and well-grown flocks the competition was spirited throughout, and towards the end of the safes all better descriptions were more in demand at rather higher rates. It is difficult to form an opinion as to the future prices of wool, but looking to the consumption at present, there is nothing to justify any great advance ; but it now requires six weeks to the sales, during which time if any demand of moment should spring up there is yet room for 2d to 3d advance, wool even at present rates being lower than those of 1860 by 10 per cent.'
