The N. M. & A. Co. report:—Owing to the Christmas holidays affecting the regular sales we held an extra sale at the Wallacetown yards on Wednesday, when a fair amount of stock came forward. Fat cattle were in good request, hut all other classes of stock were very dull of sale. Our next sale will be held on the 28th inst, but it will be far better for vendors not to offer store stock, the sale being specially for fat stock. Fat Cattle—3o head yarded to a good market, best prime being up to LI I 5s for heavy weights; good, L 8 10s to L 9 10, ordinary, L 6 10s to L 7 ss; best cows, L 6 15s to L 7 15s ; light, L 5 to L 6 15s. Fat sheep excess of requirements, were hard to quit. A few extra prime Shropshire Down wethers, bred by Mr Reid, Monte Christo, brought 11s to 13s 6d ; small lambs from same place, 8s Gd to 9s 4d ; ordinary sorts, 8s 6d to 10s ; ewes, 6s 6d to 7s 6d. Store Sheep—974 entered, and there being no demand almost every sheep was turned out unsold. Store Cattle —55 were entered, and being an “ off” day hardly any sales were made. Wyndham sale—Thursday, 20th, being a week earlier to avoid the holidays, the entry of sheop wus very small, consisting of a few lots of prime fat, for which there was little demand ; extra prime wethers selling at 10s, while a few »mall lots were unsold. A line of 403 2-tooth sheep brought 7s 3d. They

were bred on Seaward Downs and were a very even lot. The entry of cattle was large, and sales were made of good store bullocks up to L 5 10s each for best; others, L 3 10s to L 4 10s ; cows’ L 3 to L 4 10s ; fat do, to L 6 10s; dairy cows to L 6 10s; yearlings, 30s to 50s ; and a line of 20 extra good at 3s 6d each.
