FASHION NOTES.
It seems still to be an open question as to whether plain or draped skirts will prevail ; both are fashionable and both have their staunch and faithful adherents. Draped skirts are so graceful in light soft materials for -evening wear that they might have won the day, had not plain ones the advantage of a variety of pretty trimmings, which make them look at least as elegant as those of a more elaborate fashion. Personally I prefer plain skirts and bodices too, provided they fit well. When looking at one of my friends, who wore a perfectly fitting plain dress, which had just come home from Messrs Herbert, Haynes & Co., I thought I had never before ■seen her look so well dressed.
