DUNEDIN MARKETS.

The markets are thus reported on for the week ended 24th October: — Fat Cattle.—Only 82 head were yarded, nearly all being good to prime. Competition was animated and an advance of 15s to 20j per head was obtained. Fat Sheep.—l 739 penned, of which, 40 were merinos. Prices averaged about equal to last week’s rates. Crossbred wethers brought from 14s fid up to 18s 6d for extra heavy, and up to 14s for ewes (one extra heavy pen realising 17s 3d) ; merinos, 10s to lls 3d. Grain. Wheat :No change to report. Quotations : Prime milling velvet, 2s 9d to 2s 10s—2s lid extreme price ; good milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9-J-d ; medium and fowl feed, 2s 5d to 2s 7d. Oats : Stocks have been considerably reduced by shipping, but prices have shown little alteration, the tendency if anything being downwards, and the prospects of values advancing seem as far off as ever. Quotations : Bright Sutherland (milling), Is 5d ; prime feed, Is 4d to Is 4£d ; other sorts, anything up to Is 3-jd. Barley has little inquiry, and quotations are nominal. Malting, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; medium, 3s to 3s 3d ; milling, 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; feed and interior. Is 6d to 2s. Potatoes.—Prices remain as quoted last week: Best, £1 12s 6d to £1 los ; medium. £1 5s to £1 10s. Chaff.— Arrivals having increased, prices have eased a little, and beet is now selling at up to £2 l-2s 6d ; medium to good, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s; inferior, £1 10s to £1 los. Grass Seeds.—The country demand has scarcely come up to expectations, consequently a good deal, especially of large annual seed, will require to be held over. Heavy wf! 11dress ed perennial is, however, always saleable, and may be quoted at last week’s prices viz. : —4s 3d to 4s 6d ; extra heavy a shade more ; good ordinary, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; other sorts, no demand—nominally 2s Rd to 3s. Cocksfoot sells slowly at last week’s quotations: Best, Rd to 6-J-d; medium, 5;)-d to Rd.
