AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report— Business continues unusually quiet, and unfortunately money is also very scarce, but whether shortness of money or grass is the cause of dullness, it is hard to say. No doubt both contribute. Those who can manage it will try and shear their sheep before selling, and although few sales are being made, no exception can be taken to the prices, as a great deal of uncertainty exists as to actual values owing to the dullness in the frozen meat trade. In the meantime our hopes arc centred on the anticipated rise in wool, which we trust will be realised. In cattle a good amount of business is doing, in spite of shortness of feed, and any decent lines are eagerly taken at good prices. Gore sale, Tuesday, 23rd inst.—The entry of sheep was very small, and naturally the de mand was good, prices hardening considerably. Best hoggets brought up to 11s 6d each ; ordinary, 8s 6d to 9s Gd, while small sold as low as 7s. Good store wethers brought 12s Id; merino ewes and lambs, 7s 6d. Cattle were well represented, and sold freely at recent prices. Wyndham sale, Thursday, 25th inst.— Only a very small entry of sheep was yarded, hoggets bringing 8s 6d to 9s 6d ; fat sheep, 13s. Cattle.—About 120 head yarded; demind good. Small, f year old bullocks to L 4 15s ; cows, to L 3 14s; 2 year olds to LBjcdvc*

and yearlings, 25s to 35s ; fat cows, L 6 to L 7; dairy cows to L 5 10s. Land Sale.—We offered at Gore on Saturday 1100 acres of Mr L. D. Nicol’s River view Estate, and sold at auction 309 acres at L 4 3s per acre. We are now treating privately for the remainder, and have every hope of selling very soon.
