GORE MARKETS &c.

The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association report having held their fortnightly stock sale at the Corporation yards, Gore, on Tuesday, the 9th inst. The entry of hoggets was larger than at any previous Gore sale this season ; but somewhat contrary to expectation - continued frost keeping back the grass the sale was very dull throughout, and prices were Is to Is 6d under last sale rates. In fact a large proportion of the sheep were turned out unsold. For an extra prime pen of hoggets 12s 2d was reached, but medium sorts brought 8s fid to 11s; small culls as low as from 5s to 7s. Our entry comprised 800, which we cleared at above rates. Cattle—Only a very small number were forward, and these sold at current rates. Horse market—On Saturday we had a busy day with the stallion parade, and sale afterwards. This, however, as is too often the case, was very dull, only two stallions out of all offered being sold; and these two, although first-rate animals in their respective classes, brought such miserable prices that we refrain from naming figures. In the Prince of Wales yards afterwards we had a very large entry, and a first-class sale, best draughts reaching L2O to L 25 ; medium sorts Ll 6to L2O, with good demand. Hacks are still rather dull of sale, and only for first-class sorts can can good prices be obtained. This we quote at Ll 4 to L2O ; while for light and inferior Lo to LlO are the ruling rate's.
