News has been received that the trial shipment of live cattle from New South Wales, by the s. s. Maori King, has arrived in the Thames. The fat cattle w r ere in good condition; the stories were but medium. One store died on the voyage. Mr Tallerman and other experts pronounce the shipment successful, but advise that cattle should be pastured a fortnight prior to shipment, which increases their price by about £3 per head. The Agent-General of New South Wales has protested against the regulation Tiecessitatino the killing of the cattle ins.tead of allowing them to be sold in a five state. He considers the regulation is unnecessary. —Mr Stimson, a meat expert,' considers that a superior quality of bullocks to those by the Maori King is required.
