BALL AT EDENDALE.

A very enjoyable withering was held in the Public Hall lately, when the Quadrille Assembly gave their wind-up ball. It was a pronounced success--nearly 60 couples took part in the grand march, excellent music being supplied by Mr A. Shirley (violin) and Professor Barker (piano), while Mr T. Robertson made a very efficient M.C. The hall was tastefully decora,ted with evergreens, and the committee left nothing to be desired,. There was much ;b-'ii-rence of opinion as to who was belle—the choice for which lay between quite anu nOi r, A few particular® concerning the dr< •.- worn will be of interest. Muir, pink nun’s veiling, relieved with cream ; vfiss O’Brien, pale blue.,, relieved with old gold ; Miss McDonald, pales blue nun’s veiling ; Miss J Hardy, white costume, trimmed will; pink; Miss M. McKinnon, black bodice,, maroon (skirt and gloves to match; MissSwale, lavender costume, relieved with, white; Miss Soammell, grey costume; Mis® J. McLellan, mauve costume ; Miss Brown, dark costume ; Miss A. McLellan, mauvecostume ; Miss Duncan, delaine bodice and. white skirt; Miss ,M. McKinnon, dark costume ; Miss P. Daw-sou, red costume; Mis® A. McKinnon, sailor costume ; Mrs Glasson* brown costume, relic, ed with pink ; Mrs JDuncan, white bodice and black skirt; Mrs Powler, black costume ; Mrs Pinlay, dark costume ; Mrs Shirley, grey costume; Mr®McKenzie, dark costume ; Mrs McGillivary, cream fisherman's net, white flowers and gloves. During the evening songs were sung; by Messrs A. Mclntosh, A. Shirley, J. McGilivary and P. Snuley, and greatly enlivened the affair. All present seemed toenjoy themselves. —a meeting of the committee was after war it - held, and it was found that after paying uxpeuses a small sum remained in hand, is very creditable* seeing that the dan,hug was carried on in. such good style. a vote of thanks was accorded the secretary and chairman and all. who had taken a b,„ ~ iag part in the society, those who were mu, paid thus receiving duecredit.
