DAIRY COWS IN DEMAND.

The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association rerorfc having held a clearing sale of dairy cows and other stock on Mr James Mclntosh’s farm at Edcndale on Wednesday last. The day ■being lovelv the public turned out in force, the most of whom were buyers, and the following districts were represented with one or more buyers : Lumsdeu, Dipton, Orepuki, Thornbnry, Gropers Bush, Wmton, Waianiwa, Gore and surrounding districts. Throughout the sale was exceptionally brisk, several buyers going away unsupplied. The following averages speak for themselves : 22 cows and heifers sold at various prices, averaging LlO 5s 3d each, the top price being Lil 10s. The average price paid for the whole herd of 55 cows, including a number of old cows, was L 8 18s 3d each. We sold also on account of the New Zealand and Australian Land Co. 2 heifers at £2O the pair, 2 heifers at £lB the pair, 1 heifer at £B, and in one line 20 heifers, two and a half years old, at £6 2s 6d each. Also on account of Mr J. Chisholm 14 head cows at from £4 5s to £6 5s each, and on account of various vendors 9 cows at from £4 10s to £6los; also on account of Mr Mclntosh, 25 head young cattle at from £2 10s to £5. Horses from £lO to £l6 10s. Lot of harness, implements, etc., at satisfactory prices. We would draw the attention of buyers who are still unsupplied to our clearing sale on account of Mr Wm Robertson, of Wyndham, on the 12th, also on the following day on acount of Mr Smellie, of Edendale.
