SOUTHLAND CELTIC SOCIETY.
A well-attended meeting 1 of tlie Southland Celtic Society was held o» the sth inst. at Brown’s Hotel, Gap— Mr McKercher (President) in the chair. It -was unanimously agreed that a company be formed for the erection ef a hall, and a committee was appointed to carry out the preliminary steps in that direction. A cordial vote of thanks was accorded Mr Thos. McLean for his liberality in giving a site for the building gratis . At the conclusion of the business a social hour was indulged in, Messrs McDonald, McKercher, and Mcßae contributing to the enjoyment by singing some capital Gaelic and Scotch songs. A number of new members were enrolled. I hear that shares for the hall are rapidly being taken up.
