SKIN MARKET.
J. H. Kirk and Co. report for week ending 11th inst., as follows : As will be seen by the London cables, at the sale last Friday the market completely fell to pieces, there being a fall of from Id to 2d per pound on all descriptions. This is unlooked for, and disheartening to all concerned, but most of all to the exporters, who will lose heavily on all skins shipped up to date. The London buyers will not look at any but the best skins, and those only at very low prices —> inferior skins are thus almost valueless. The August sale will see the London market full of our early winter skins, so that there is really no hope of any advance for some time —especially in the face of the labour troubles in America. At Dunedin sales last Monday picked winter does sold at lOd, mixed winters 8d to 9d, autumns and early winters 5d to 7'.d, summers 2-Jd to 4d, and suckers lid. We are paying full market values, free of all charges.
