AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.

The J. GK Ward Farmers’ Association of New Zealand Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale at (lore on Tuesday. The entry, for the season of the year, was a fair one, but the attendance was small and very few buyers of sheep were forward. Best wethers and maiden ewes sold at 12s to 10s each, and small 2-tooth sheep in low condition from 6s to 9s. For. cattle, except dairy cows near calving, which were in fair demand at up to L 6 for medium sorts, there was not much demand, feed evidently being scarce in the district. Skins, Hides, Fat, etc.—On Monday we submitted a fair catalogue and got value for every lot except some sheep skins which reached us damp, sweated, and in bad order; for such there is little competition, as only those who work their skins here can buy inferior badly kept skins. We again urge upon farmers to use a little more care in keeping sheep and rabbit skins clean and dry and in salting hides. Horse Market —On Saturday we had over 80 entered of all sorts, including 12 (mostly unbrokem) draughts from Mr W. Shand, Taieri. The unbroken lot sold at Ll2 to Ll 7, and. a pair of 4-year-olds, broke to plough, at L 29 and L 25 10s. On account of Mr W- McEwan, Dunedin, 12 draughts and light, brought Ll 9 to Ll2 for the former, and a pair of light harness sorts, Ll 3 10s and Ll 5 ss. Oh account of Mr P. McCallum, Oamarti, 6 draughts at‘L14,L15,L16,L19,L12, andLlß 10s ; and for local horses, L2l to LlB for best sorts,, and L 5 to LlO for old stiff sorts. For hacks there is not much demand at the present time, and judging from the number of draughts being rushed down here from the North, prices must yet come lower. We have 50 booked for our Saturday’s sale, including a large line from Oamaru, which are now advertised. ; We direct attention to a clearing sale at Ocean View, Fortrose, oh 27th inst., of 300 young cattle, besides sheep and horses.
