A NEW IMPROVED DRAIN PLOUGH.

A most successful trial, of a new improved light draught drain plough was [we are informed] held *n Mr Jas Sheddan’s frrm, Scotts Gap on the 12th inst. The plough was manufactured by the Southland Farmers’ Implement Co., Invercargill and the trial was conducted by their travelling representative (Mr J.A. Keith.) The ground operated on was stiff clay and somewhat gritty; with a close turf of couch, but notwithstanding these difficulties light horses were quite capable of drawing the plough when working .with a 2iin. plug at a depth of 18in. ; and with ten horses in the same paddock, with a plug of 3in., a depth of 22in. to 24ii% was attained with perfect . ease to the team. Altogether, practical farmers who have witnessed trials of all so-called light - draught ploughs expressed their opinion that this was without doubt in all respects the best implement that had come under their notice ; and Mr ShecV dan, who previous to this was somewhat sceptical as to the possibility of draining with eight or ten horses, immediately purchased the implement, although he had no idea of doing so before seeing the work done.
