MR McNAB, M.H.R., IN SEAWARD BUSH.
Mr R. McNab, devoted Saturday last to visiting the Seaward. Bush section of the Mataufa electorate in order to confer with his constituents there re lacal requirements, before going to Wellington. At noon he reached Oteramika Gorge schoolhouse, and, after meeting several settlers, examined the section of road on which the Government grant of £2OO is to be spent by the Southland County Council. At Oteramika Mr T. Jeffcoate called attention to the necessity, when the trains are running; of having the post office at the store close to the railway station, and also urged that aid be given to the local body to form the road leading from the railway station into the heart of the Oteramika district. Mr McNab admitted that the request for assistance in forming the roads was a reasonable one. With regard to the post office he said the postal authorities would find it to their advantage to open one there when the train service on that line commenced. The matter of erecting a goods shed at Oteramika, which was also referred to, could only be settled when the amount of the traffic was ascertained. ,At Mokotua and different points along the line other settlers availed themselves of the opportunity of meeting Mr McNab, who also visited the cooperative works.
