Our Home Circle has been invaded • fihis week by one of “the lords of - aareution,” but he comes in such friendly guise that 1 have not the Heart to refuse him admission, but on Hha contrary extend to him a cordial ■ welcome. I see, Mr Editor, that, like fib ft shrewd old Irishman, you are - mvaJke to the fact that “ the women are the boys,” and I wish your home circle page every success. That the lady readers of the Southern Cross who will yet comprise they do not now) the good sense, ymfch, and beauty of Southland, will Stave a page that will possess all of virtues and few of the faults that are common in such pages, I sincerely Hope. Let the ladies of New Zealand ■ uemember that the eyes of the world r are wpon them—that the hopes of tliheir sisters in other countries are -'Oetit.rod in them. Let them refrain from using their political freedom, in -any petty, irritating manner; hut rather in the spirit in which it was Handed to them —the spirit of fair play and justice to all. Let them «dierish. within themselves, and also instil into the children that grow up at th<iir knees, the spirit that will not he, nss:e- have, a slave. The ladies, bless tihem !
