AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.

The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association, Ltd., report having held their regular fortnightly sale of stock at the Invercargill yards on the 17th. The entry of sheep was one of the largest of the season ; all the yards and a great number of the cattle pens were filled to overflowing. The entry consisted of a large number of good sheep and a fair proportion of old stager ewes. The sale started dull, but improved as far as the good sheep were concerned. Wethers ranged from 12s 6d to 11s for best, medium to small 8s Gd to 9s, ewes 9s to 9s 6d, mixed ages and 2-tooths 10s to 11s, old cull sorts 2s to ss, merino wetheis 3s. Fat ewes ranged from 7s to 9s with poor demand. No first-class lambs were forward; small sorts brought from 5s 6d to 6s Gd. With the exception of a few large lots that did not reach vendors’ reserves, we cleared our entry at above rates. Our entry was close on 5,000 sheep and lambs and 68 rams. About 20 of the rams changed hands at prices in favour of buyers.

Cattle.— A medium entry of fat, which proved quite equal to requirements, and best bullocks reached £lO ss, or equal to 25s per 1001 b; while .inferior was only worth 18s to 20s. Store cattle were almost neglected, as the large number of sheep yarded occupied the time of the sale until nearly dark, so they were mostly turned out unsold. Horse Sale.—On Saturday we had a fair entry and draughts sold fairly well, while hacks and light sorts were rather neglected. Best draughts £2O to £24 10s, medium, £lB to £2O, inferior £8 to £ls.
