AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.

The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association, Ltd. report having held their regular fortnightly stock sale at the Invercargill yards on Tuesday. 3he entry of fat cattle was only a medium one, and those forward of very mixed quality. Tire demand was fair for prime beef. Bullocks sold at from L 7 10s to L 8 15s for best, and cows at £5 5s to £7 10s for a very superior pen. Prime beef sold at 20s to 24s per 1001 b. Store Cattle. —Only a small entry, and excepting a pen or two of forward steers that reached £O, and a few dairy cows that brought £5 to £7, the others were of medium quality, and the demand was dull. Calves (weanevs) from 17s to 22s ; yearlings, 45s to 50s ; and cows in forward condition, L 3 to L 4. Fat Sheep—A large entry, but not many first quality. The demand was fair and prices quite equal to anything ruling for some time back. Best young sheep reached 13s to 12s; medium, 10s to 1 Is ; and heavy weight ewes up to Us. Vendors of fat lambs had to take store prices, consequently 7s 6d to 9s was top price. Store Sheep —A good entry, including main pens in low condition. Two tooths brought 8s 6d to 10s ; ewes with good mouths, Ss to 10s; lambs (small), 5s 6d to 7s; medium, 6s 6d to 8s s old ewes, 2s 6d to Gs. Rams —A large number forward, for which there was a little demand at very low prices. Excepting two lots of sheep, we cleared our entry at above rates. The horse market on Saturday was rather dull, although we got up to L 25 10s for best draughts, and LIG to LlB for medium. On Saturday we offer a shipment of draughts on account of Mr Ross, and a number of wellbred light sorts from Longbeach on account of Mr Twenty man Hodgson.

We also report having held a sale of surplus stock at the Morton Mains station on Wednesday. There was a large attendance, including many buyers from long distances. The sale as a whole was dull, for sheep, but, excepting some rams, which were passed unsold, all the sheep were cleared, as under, viz.—2,400 lambs at 6i to 6s 4d each, 275 ewes at 7s, 702 old ewes at 3s 2d, 316 fat ewes at 9s sd, 500 cull lambs at 2s lid, 12 Romney rams at 34s each. Cattle. —40 cows, with calves at foot, at £5, 52 calves at 38s each. Horses brought £l3, £lO 10s, £9 10s, and down to £5 each. All implements brought full value.
