AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
Mr A. A. Mac Gibbon (on behalf of the. N. M. and A. Co.), reports — Business is now assuming much larger proportions, and although sales have not the amount of “ go ” that existed in former seasons, still price? are fairly satisfactory, and almost every lot changes hands. Heally good wethers are now commanding more attention, and as the turnip crops arc good all over Southland, (here should be a big turn-over in this class of stock.
Gore Sale, Tuesday, 27th Feb. —The yards were pretty full, and satisfactory prices were obtained. Fat ewes brought ‘Js to Us3d ; fat wethers, 11s to 11s Gd ; fat ewes, 7s to 11s; cull ewes, 5s to 7s; store wethers, bs 2d to 10s 8d ; crossbred ewes, Gs to 7s. Winton Sale, Thursday, Ist March. —The yards were well Idled, and seeing that hardly any stock was advertised, the sale went oft' well. We would like, however, if our clients would kindly advise us, so that we might be able to give due publicity to these sales. Store wethers were in good demand, selling at 10s 2d to 1 Is, while a line of extra good 4-tooth brought 12s 4d each. Crossbred lambs brought7s Cd to 8s 3d for best; others 5s to 6s ; culls, 2s to Is ; cull ewes, Is to Gs ; fat. ewes, 8s Gd to 10s ; fat wethers, 12s to 12s 3d. Several rams were offered, but being early the demand was quiet. We sold our entry of 18 ram lambs, and six 2-tooth Leicester rams at satisfactory prices. A fair entry of cattle, mostly young, which sold at 50s to 60s lor 2-year-olds, and 30s to 40s for yearlings. Skin and Fat Sale—Very small entries of any, although a large number of freezing skins are selling at good prices.
