WOOL SALES.

The N.M. and A. Co. report that the second sale t-f the season on Wednesday last was, to suit the conrenience of buyers, started at 8.30 a.m. instead of 10 o’clock. While this arrangement naturally was displeasing to owners who were anxious to see the sale, the agents considered they were studying the farmer’s interests in meeting buyers’ wishes,, they wishing to return North as early as possible. While we felt that it was hardly treating us fairly, we still are of opinion that the course adopted was the best under the circumstances, and are sure that our farming friends will understand that we were doing our best in their interests. Taking the sale all through, we hardly think there is much difference in values, excepting for merino, low quality crossbred and pieces, and it must be remembered that these are very bad with fern stains and hurrs, which reduce values considerably. Best half bred wool brought 9|d to 9|d ; good, Bfd to 9d ; best crossbred, up to Bfd ; good, 7gd to 8d ; merino, 6d to d ; best pieces, 6d to 7*d ; good, cd to ferior, 3 id. A total of 2200 bales was offered, of which we catalogued 710, consisting pretty largely of low grade descriptions. To show that little if any drop can be recorded,, we actually obtained from id to Id per lb more at this than the former sale for several passed in lots. We had a full attendance of buyers and keen competition for the best lots,. We disposed of every lot, including those passed in.
