PROPERTY and FINANCIAL REPORT.

C. W. Brown reports as follows —Since date of last report I have sold the following properties, viz.:—Section 19, block 26, Criuan street, i acre, with 7-roomed dwelling-house thereon, for L 35 0; section 12, block 11, Campbclltown Hundred, containing 128 a Ir 24p, at 23s 6d per acre ; sections 48 and 49, Powelltown, at Ll 5 each ; section 18, block 19, Liddel street, £ acre, L6O; sections 17 and 18, block 11, Clinton, North Invercargill, £ acre, at L 4 5; sections 16 and 17, block 111, Burton, £ acre, atL62 10s ; leasehold sections 12 and 13, block 11, Seaward Bush, containing 10 acres, and section 10, block 11, Bumsden, t acre, at satisfactory prices.

Town and Suburban Sections.—These have have been inquired for, and prices have been fairly maintained, although there is no speculative demand. The building trade has been active and a large number of houses for immediate occupation have been erected. There are comparatively few sections now available on the north-eastern side of the town, and the Flat is being rapidly built upon. Country lands —Improved farms, within an easy distance from dairy factories, are enquired for, and it is anticipated that after harvest the demand for all classes of agricultural and pastoral laud will be more active. Large areas of Government land have been taken up in the Waiau and other localities, and as there is the prospect of an abundant harvest, with good prices for nearly all our products, it is likely that settlement will proceed very rapidly in the Southland district. Financial —Money is obtainable on really good country securities at from 6 to 7 per cent, on large sums : smaller amounts at g per cent. Invercargill, Jan. 4, 1894.
