WOMEN AND THE VOTE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,. —In reply to your correspondent “ Raz'zle Dazzle,” I am glad to see some signs of real sorrow for the state of things her sex have brought about. I would not wish penitents of her sex to follow the example of the traitor Judas. The country may still be re■claimed. Looking back to past history, we find women have made far more suitable companions for the “lords,” and to show their gratitude the lords have endeavoured to prevent any passing through the world “ unwept, unhonoured and unsung.” While the preachings of the W.C.T.U. are becoming more tyrannical, like “ My Grandfather’s Clock,” the young men are getting their wings ready. “ It rang an alarm in the dead of thenight, An alarm that for years had been dumb, And we knew that his spirit was pluming for flight, That his hour for departure had come. Still the clock kept the time with a soft muffled •hime, As we silently stood by his side, But it stopped short —never to go again When the old man died.” “ Razzle Dazzle” wishes to be informed Bow her sex would make more suitable companions for men ? I say by those who do not approve of the ravings of the blind leaders •of the blind putting on mourning for the Test of 1898 —the veritable sackcloth and, •ashes, wearing a ring, say on the left thumb by which the lords about to marry might easily recognise their friends from their ■ enemies. Thirdly; By getting up a petition to the next Government to invite a colony of the “ Latter Day Saints” from the Salt Lake City to establish a colony in “ this uttermost end of the world,” now setting such a bad •example of infidelity, and so frustrate the workings of Madam Hate-on or her nymphs. —Yours &c. A Deposed Lord.
