SEAGULLS AND LAMBS.

Prom Mr W. Reid, of Lee Stream, the Taieri Advocate learns that seagulls are now becoming a great pest in that locality, and do a large amount of damage amongst the sheep. They are fast developing a propensity for attacking young lambs and sickly ewes and during the lambing season they are very destructive. Of course it is no new thing for lambs to be attacked by seagulls, but the birds appear to be growing more fearless every year and they will pick the eyes out of strong young lambs. The gulls always go for the eyes, and weakly ewes are almost sure to have their eyes picked out. Mr Reid thinks it will be necessary to take steps for poisoning the gulls by distributing poisoned meat for them as they follow the plough.
