AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.

The Farmers’ Alliance and Supply Co. of New Zealand, Ltd., report as follows for week ending 28th Sept.:— Thornbury Stock Sale. —The regular stock sale was held yesterday. Sheep—About 2000 "were penned, comprising for the most part hoggets, with a sprinkling of ewes and lambs at foot. Just as the sale started a very heavy downpour of rain fell, and had the effect of, to a great extent, hindering business, and large number of sheep were passed in; but before evening most of the lines offered were sold. Hoggets ranged from 8s to 15s, the latter price being for toppers ; good medium lines brought 10s to 11s 6d and 12s. We sold fat ewes and wethers, mixed ages, at 14s. Cattle. —A large number was penned, but business was only fair, prices ruling much the same as last quotations. Sheepskins.—At our sale on Monday we offered a large catalogue to a full muster of buyers, prices being : —Butchers’ crossbreds, 4s 6d to 4s lOd for good sorts ; butchers’ merinos, 3s 6cl ; dry skins, per lb for best, others ruling from 4d to sd, according to quality. Kabbitskins. —As the season advances the offerings become smaller, and on Monday only a few lots offered, which were cleared at late quotations. Fat and Tallow. —Prices firm at 13s to 14s 9d for best rough fat, poor conditioned lots bringing up to 12s 3d per cwt. Tallow— Best, 18s to 19s; mixed and poor from 13s to 16s per cwt. Hides —Same as last report.
