AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.

The Farmers’ Alliance and Supply Company of New Zealand, Limited, report as follows for week ending 24th iust: — During the very unsettled state of financial circles in Australia, Great Britain, and America, prices for our produce tend rather downward than otherwise. From cable advice to hand, we learn that sheep pelts which, only a few months ago, were fetching very high prices, are now only sold after being hawked from one to another at anything but satisfactory prices to shippers. Then, again, rabbitskins have had their turn, for prices, at the London sales on Friday last, fell all round, but to what extent is not yet obtainable, owing to the many conflicting cables coming to hand, but the whole seems to point to a fall of from £d to Id per lb. On tallow, of course we are not so much dependent upon the Home markets, as our local manufacturers requirements are very large, thereby taking up small parcels offering at piicas rather in excess of those in London. The present outlook for the wool market is very uncertain, but as no very heavy fall is looked for, we are of opinion that our Southland wool will hold its own yet, n o- e especially well-grown greasy crossbreds ; but for slipe we are not so sanguine, as our Colonial “ get up ” does not seem to “ take ” at Home, buyers preferring to treat the sheepskins themselves. Rabbitskins. —At our sale on Monday we submitted a large catalogue to a full muster of buyers, and bidding was brisk up to a certain point, but prices ruled fully -£d to Id lower than last week owing to the recent fall in Loudon We obtained for winters (mixed sexes), 15d per lb ; off season, 9d to 12d; and blacks, lOd. Sheepskins. —We offered a catalogue of all sorts, and sold every lot at very satisfactory prices. The general tone of the market is easier owing to a fall in pelts in the Home market, but wo hope to see this recover before long. Hides.—We sold good heavies at 3d per lb; others, 2id and per lb, and can place fairly large quantities at these prices. Tallow remains firm at last week’s prices.
