The Reporter
MATRIMONIAL,
A marriage which attracted a good deal of attention took place in the First Church on Wednesday last — that of Miss Mary McFarlane (second daughter of his Worship the Mayor, Mr Duncan McFarlane), to Mr Richard A. Cruickshank, fifth son of Mr Adam Cruickshank, one of the oldest settlers in Southland, and wellknown in the Invercargill and Gore ■districts. After’ the ceremony the guests were, entertained at the house of the bride’s father, and after the usual toasts had been honoured, the happy couple received a hearty sendoff from their numerous relatives who accompanied them to the station on their departure to their home at the Bluff, In the evening the event was celebrated by a very successful gathering in the Temperance Hall, attended by the Councillor’s and their wives, and a large number of other well-known citizens, the hall being tastefully decorated for the occasion by Mr Waugh, jnr. We understand that the brides’ presents were both numerous and costly.
