For a long time the lawyer has occupied the same place in comic literature as the proverbial mother-in-law—he has been regarded as fair game for the humorist. It is therefore only fair to record incidents which tell in fa von r of the profession. Thus at the animal meeting of the local branch of the ISTew Zealand Alliance, it was elicited that two members of the legal profession—Messrs McWab and Adams, of Invercargill and Dunedin respectively - had done a good deal of work without fee or reward in connection with the closing of the Worth Star Hotel.
