G. Froggatt reports for week ending July 7th On Monday I held my usual hide a sheepskin sale, when I submitted a catalog ue of between 40 and 50 lots to a good attendance. There is now a strong demand for mostly everything, and sheepskins especially meet with a spirited sale. The following are some of the prices realised —Butchers’ skins, 4s 2d and 4s 3d ; and ordinary 3s 9d to 3s 4d: pelts from lid upwards ; dry sheepskins, 5d to sjd, and well kept half-bred, sfd per lb. Eabbitskins from ls ,to Is 3d, With best selling’to Is 4d ; • rough fat, 13s ; caul fat, 14s; tallow, 18s; calfskins, Is Id ; yearling skins, 2s-3d to 3s Id. For hides a better demand exists, heavy well-; taken off’ selling to ' 16s; Butchers and country clients would do well not to score them. I, held my usual monthly sale at Winton on Thursday. Fat and. store cattle were keenly competed for, also fat sheep, which were sold at from 14s Gd to 16s 4d. Store sheep in low’condition were hard to move. I sold a line of 200 at 12s 8d ; small lambs, ! 8s 4d to 9s 3d.
