FAREWELL to the LINDHURST ROAD BOARD.

The folloAving song, composed by Mr A. Kinross, chairman of the late Lindhurst Road Board, Avas sung by that gentleman at the dinner recently given in his honour Tune—“ Willie breAved a peck o’ maut.” We often met in days doay past, And Avorked to serve our fellow-men, But merging has come on at last— The Board Avill never meet again. Chorus— We’ve met to drink a friendly glass, Perhaps Ave’ll never meet again, Then let the bottle freely pass— The mountain deAV Avas sent for men. For friendship’s sake avc meet this night To have a chat and drink a toast, We’ll kindly think it is all right If some of ns should chance to boast. We’ll leave our troubles far behind, This night AA'e’ll all be full of glee ; No gloomy thoughts shall cloud the mind, But kind and merry shall avc be. Then here’s to every friend that’s true, And here’s to every lass that's kind ; This night our friendship aa 7 c reneAv, And auld lang syne bring back to mind. And here’s to Britain’s distant shore, Here’s to the land Ave’ ve made our home; May friendship bind them e\'er more, Though sundered by the salt sea foam.
