Asher) presided, and in ; a few introductory remarks said the committee had determined to make the society more: Successful this,year than .hitherto,,-and added that the large attendance augured well for that eijd. F. , Bichardsbif, M.H.R., met Iris qonstituents'in the Town Hall'bh Wednesday, and had a good' reception; A : number of questions wei’fe asked, but the speaker was able to meet his questioners. , The address was much on the same lines of that given at Mataura, which you have reported. Oii Sunday last wo experienced a heavy gale from the, south-west, finishing up with a downpour of rain. f , No damage of any consequence is repbrted. Since then rain, with snow on the hills, has continued at intervals. ■.: .; ■! ; \ ■ j Last Tuesday’s sheep sale was not largely attended. No doubt the cold wet weather had, a good deal to do with so lew sheep being forward’. Those'' offered brought satisfactory prices. (:’ ■ : 1 ■ '' '
