The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association of N.Z., Ltd., report for the week ending Friday, 19th May, 1893 : —We held our regular sale in the Wallacetown Junction saleyards on Tuesday, 16th inst. There was -only a moderate entry of sheep and cattle penned. The fat cattle on the whole were much above the average for both weight and quality, with a brisk demand. We quote prime quality and suitable weights at up to 21s per lOOlbs; medium and inferior, from 15s to 17s 6d. We sold on account of Mr M. GK Rich (Fortrose), four prime quality cows and heifers at £7 to £6.—Fat sheep were poorly represented; only one or two pens prime ewes forward, the balance were little better than good stores. We note a brisk demand; and sold ewes at 15s ; wethers and ewes (light weights), at 13s 3d; best crossbred wethers at 14s lOd.—Store sheep : The entry was made with principally breeding ewes and lambs, with an odd pen of crossbred wethers; nothing forward to call for particular mention.
