James McMaster was charged at the Police Court on Tuesday, at the instance of J. Fisher, with having committed perjury during the hearing of a case of assault. —After evidence had been taken the Bench held that the evidence, would scarcely suffice to secure a conviction if the case went to a jury, and dismissed the information. The digesters attached to the freezing works at Wallacetown Junction, together with an engine, were destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning. The property was insured for £I2OO in the New Zealand office, part of that amount being reinsured. The works will not be stopped in consequence of the fire.
