SEAWARD MOSS.
People in this quarter are looking forward to the completion of the railway to the Oteramika station, from which point they will be able to utilise it both for goods and passenger traffic. At present everything has to be carted to Mokotua, a distance of four or five miles. On the 11th inst., the first marriage that has taken place here was celebrated —may it be the forerunner of many others. The happy couple w r ore Mr J. Knuckey and Miss Jessie Melvin, the eldest daughter of Mr J. Melvin, formerly of the Gladstone sawmills. The ceremony, which took place at the house of the bride’s father, was performed by the Rev. Mr Thornton. In the evening a dance was held, when friends and neighbours to the number of 70 or 80 gathered in and had a real good time. Mr J. Knuckey acted as M.C., and Mr J, Ryan (violin) supplied the music. At intervals songs were given by Messrs J. Carolene, J. McLeay, and Misses Knuckey (two).
