JUDGE ACCEPTS £IO,OOO IN WRONGFUL PAYMENT. DENVER (U.S.), December 9. Judge Ben Lindsey, the noted lecturer and originator of the companionate marriage idea, has been disbarred from the Colorado Courts by the Supreme Court. .' • \ The Supreme Court found that he had been guilty of grave professional misconduct.

He acknowledged having accepted £IO,OOO from the widow of a millionaire, Mr Stokes, for the settlement of the latter's will.

The Court found that he took th 3 money, not as a free gift, but in wrongful payment for services. "He failed to withstand the allurements and temptations of money," the Court stated.

Judge .Be'n Lindsey, who is sixty years of age, was appointed judge of the Juvenile Court of Denver in 1900. He was the promoter of the Juvenile Court system, and originator of some of its features, and has an international reputation as an authority upon juvenile delinquency. Latterly 'he has been much before the public ,as a result of outspoken magazine articles on social matters, particularly in connection with his advocacy of the companionate marriage idea.
