GOOD FIELDS AT MARTON. EXCELLENT PROGRAMME FOR xO-MORROW. (By Silken ftein). A very popular meeting with local, sportsmen is the Marton Jockey Club -s summer fixture which opens at Marton to-morrow. Excellent fields, both from a class and numerical point of viev, are promised for the opening day and good sport should result. Local patrons are well provided for in respect of conveyances, very suitable train arrangements having been made 4 as well as the services by Messrs HotchW and Watts, who are running two buses on each day. Racing, will commence at 12 noon and the programme is as follows: '.TRIAL PLATE, of 120 sovs. Six furlongs and 27 yards.

Arrowzone will not be eligible to compete in this event. Promising showings have been made by Nightdew, Hatteras, Equitant, Whenuatonga, Leisure, Valma, Potoaform and Kilorell, while Paiko is said to bo a speedy customer.. Potoaform makes a strong appeal to the writer, because of his earlier form, but the public selections will probably be — , Kilorell. Nightdew. FIRST HACK HURDLES, o( 150 sovs. One mile and a-half.

Skyrider, Aurora Borealis and Red Lane are recent winners" among the jumpers and speculation will be fair ly even over the trio. punters are faced with a tough problem in the principal race at Marton. Having run second to Seatown in the Manawatu Cup and coming from 'a powerful stables Cashier may be elected to the position of favourite. It is interesting to note that Nightmarch ran second in the Liverpool Handicap at Awapuni and then went on to win this event. Otairi has an undeniable chance of .repeating that performance. On their showings at Manawatu meeting practically every runner has some sort of a recommendation and on that account the winner should return a good dividend. Glenartney, Statuary, Glen Eossie, Limosin and'Some Acre are the form runners in this event. Glen Eossie will be all the better for the one race he had at Awapuni and Limosin is a runner who is being looked to for better things. The fact that Some Acre has been only twice unplaced in nine starts this season makes him appear in a favourable light. The winner may come from— Some Acre , Glen Eossie.
