CHAMPIONSHIP CLOSELY CONTESTED. 1 The district cricket matches on Saturday resulted in victories- for the Lovin and Weraroa Clubs. Playing at Otaki, Levin had a two-ppint win ov.-r the home team. Weraroa met Shannon on the Weraroa Domain and secured-a three-point win. Otaki now have the lead on the championship ladder by one point only, and have played one more game than Levin, who are in the next position. MATCH ON BOXING DAY. It is understood that a match has been arranged against the touring Hutt cricket team on boxing Day, when the visitors will meet a team composed of the available members of the Levin and Weraroa Clubs. Any player desirous of playing is advised to communicate with Mr G. C. France at an early date. The Hutt team, which will comprise some players of note, will be met by a fairly strong batting and bowling side, and a good game should eventuate.
